Intentional

It’s a new year!  What better time to start with a blank slate, a fresh beginning.  When you think about it, every day is like that.  Revel living in the present.  Fully engaged.   Leave the past behind.  Forgive.  Anticipate the future.   Hope.  Each day is full of potential for you, for your marriage, and for “mommy’ing”.

Have you thought about the coming year?  Looking at the big picture, what are your hopes, goals and dreams for your children this coming year? What needs to be done over the next 6 months to accomplish them? the next 3 months? this month?  Keep it simple.  Label it with one word that’s easy to remember.

Being intentional is easy at the beginning, when hope is high.  But getting into the thick of things further on down the road can get tough.  Deut. 6:4-9 says to love God with all our heart, soul and strength, and to talk about His commandments with our children all the time, in everything we do...when we wake up, eat breakfast, go through our day, cook, shop, eat, talk with friends, play, go to sleep.  That takes a lot of thought!  But think about it...this will help train your children’s thoughts in the right direction.  And, it will make for interesting conversations!

Take a few moments to think of the values/skills you want your children to learn (or at least move towards) this year.  Write at least one goal in each area.  Let these guide you through the year, living with intentionality!
